In my previous post I wrote about the question I had in my mind, what is in between effort and reliance vs perfect and imperfection. And today, I got an answer, it is compassion. Compassion means : "a strong feeling of sympathy and sadness for the suffering or bad luck of others and a wish to help them" taken from the online Cambridge dictionary website: COMPASSION | English meaning - Cambridge Dictionary Compassion is an emotion that is given by God, to us mankind. That feeling of sympathy towards others, the sadness we feel for others when something bad happens to them. The same thing that God has shown us to the Prophets who had made mistakes, but God is being merciful towards His Creations. I can't possibly use the word merciful for us mankind, the word itself is too Godly. Only God can be merciful, where else we are compassionate towards one another.
In our effort to be perfect in everything we do, at the end of the day we are only human who errs. Despite of how good we are at multitasking; we do somehow make mistakes. Simple errors such as forgetting a task, or just a moment of simply absent minded. No matter how we try to remember everything and avoid forgetfulness, we do tend to flaw once in a while. So, how are we judged then? Isn't it only fair to point out our mistakes and penalise us for all the wrong things we have done? Isn't that what examinations has taught us all these whiles? Wrong answers mean lesser marks and right answers is the only way to survive for a pass.
In between all these, is the word compassion.
Remember how Prophet Adam acknowledged his mistakes and said sorry to Allah? And Allah in return showers His Mercy to them (Adam & Eve) They were reunited and had children on earth.
Have you been in a situation where you expected a failure, but you came out safe? You expected to be punished, but nothing happened. I personally encountered these many times. My clumsy, always in a rush character has always put me in a forgetful situation. I will occasionally miss out important information. Information that will tarnish my grades, or worst, my reputation. Many times, I wonder, why am I still loved or why am I still given many chances to rectify my mistakes? I figured it... it is the compassion that I received from others.
I followed our forefather's steps. The steps of what to do when making a mistake.
1. Acknowledge/Admit my mistakes
2. Apologise
3. Rectify the consequences
4. Say Thank You
I can assure you, the Lord who holds our hearts in His Hand, has the power to soften any hearts He wants to. If you are lucky enough, and if it is destined for you, He will soften the hearts of those you have done wronged to.
Thank You Allah,
